What things should I have for a animal rescue kit?
I would like to set up a animal rescue kit to keep in a car. What things do you think are needed??
Thanks!
Well firstly you should have a small cat-sized kennel. This way you can fit in anything from small dogs, to cats, to raccoons in it. Plus, you can keep the other supplies in it for storage.
Secondly, a standard first aid kit: lots of gauze, a tourniquet, ointment, peroxide, alcohol, alot of large and small towels, ace bandages, ect.
You're definitely going to want several leashes; I recommend the collar/leash combo, which has a loop at the end so you don't have to bother trying to collar an injured animal.
You're also definitely going to want a couple muzzles of different sizes. Though you can rig up a muzzle with a leash, a standard net muzzle is cheap and more effective.
I'm not sure how you could get ahold of one of these, but if you could somehow get a catchpole, like animal control uses, it would come in handy I guarantee it.
One MUST HAVE is a pair of very, very thick gloves. Something that a dog/cat or other animal can't bite through when you try to pick them up.
Lastly, an emergency manual for dogs and cats will be very helpful in those situations where you don't know what to do.
Anyways, good luck!
