Any Tips For Barrel Racing?
Hi,
My horse Hazards Brick and I love racing the time with tight turns,
But lately we've been a little rusty and slow. I have not rode in about a month. So of course we are going to be a bit slow, but any good tips for barrel racers?
I would just start riding daily for at least an hour. Don't just focus on the barrel pattern it self. Your horse will eventually become bored with it and not work as hard for you. I know I would take my horse out and just lope circles and work on his basics even though he is very much a seasoned 1D horse. If you you have a round pen you could put a barrel in the center and work you around the pen sometimes turning into the barrel. it helps a lot with your turns..and most of all it is something different for your horse to do. But just start riding daily and get your horse back into shape...thats most likely the reason yall are slowing down..Also remember don't just focus on running the pattern in practice( Thats all the horse will start wanting to do and by that time he isn't focused on doing his job..instead he just wants to go) you want to focus on improving yourself and the horse.
