Does anyone know how to describe to a hair colorist a natural black/brown hair color..not raven black?
I want a natural black hair color, NOT raven black. Something that is right at the border of black/brown.
If you tell them you want Level 2 warm or neutral brown, you will get exactly what you are asking for. Ask to see the color swatches before anything is mixed or applied.
Hair color level ranges from 1 to 10... one being the darkest and 10 being the lightest.
Hair color is then also divided into tones... the tone determines the warmth or coolness of the color. Most hair color comes in all ten levels in each tone. Anything that says "ash," "violet," or blue violet will be cool tones and will make it look more "raven."
You might even try level 3, but even though it is a dark brown, it is on the lighter side of dark brown... not the lighter side of black like you describe wanting.
