Are conservationists going to far? Are they ruining the USA's chances at using their own natural resources?
RENO, Nev. - Conservationists sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Thursday seeking protection for a rare butterfly they say is threatened by off-road vehicles at one of the largest sand dunes in the West.
Environmentalists want the agency to declare the Sand Mountain blue butterfly an endangered species because, they say, its habitat is being destroyed at the only place it is known to live — the Sand Mountain Recreation Area in western Nevada.
Does man have to have the top priority for every inch of this earth that we share with the millions of other species? By the way, have you ever stopped to think what humans do for this planet and what animals and plants do? Even a bee helps in pollinating a flower, but we seem to think only of exploitation... and without thinking, our activities lead to pollution... and extinction.
Since we hold the power to destroy other lives (animal or plant) it should be our responsiblity to take care of it... Remember, we do not have the power to create life....
