Breastplate versus Breast collar?
I'm getting into jumping my horse. What is the difference between a breastplate and a breast collar since both prevent the Saddle from slipping?
The breastplate attaches to the dee rings on your saddle and you can add snaps to the straps that aid in the ease of attaching it to your saddle. Besides those straps you also have the center strap that attaches to your girth. So, you have 2 straps that hold the saddle in place and one larger one for the girth.
With a breast collar, you have straps that attach to the off side of your girth and the near side and hopefully it makes sure your saddle stays forward.
I haven't used a breast collar in AGES! I got and still use my first breast plate in '72 for schooling.
