What was your closest experience with a shark?
here on the north shore I come into contact with a lot. I'm not afraid of sharks. I have been bitten on the leg once and only once by a bull. Nothing severe, needed stitches and then I went back out surfing. I respect sharks and want to be a marine biologist.
The 21-foot shark swims towards me like a lazy train. It’s surprisingly slow. Because I’ve stopped breathing, it’s also eerily silent.
I can’t help but feel there’s a collision coming. This train, with spots across its back and giant dorsal fin, has the right of way. I’m in the middle of the tracks. Its eyes are four feet apart and, as it gets closer, I can see that one is on each side of me. At this point, I’d like to reach out and push the snout away — but wait there's a glass between us.haha, i'm at sea world.
