Has anybody had problems with neoprene girths or cinches?
I was getting a cinch and I have all neoprene cinches and girths. The person at the store said they had bad experiences with them. Have you? what happened? Also I got a felt one instead beacuse of this it looked nice but its to big Im geting a smaller size do you like these?
When I purchased my first neoprene girth, the Saddle shop owner expressed her opinion that it would pull the skin with it and cause injury. Well, that was many years ago, and many un-injured horses ago. I find them easy to maintain, superior to prevent saddle slippage, and I have yet to find a downside to them. The felt is much much harder to keep clean and free of bacteria....the neoprene hoses off, wipes down, and is ready for next use after a couple minutes of maintenance.
Once the horse sweats, any grabbing being referred to is ended. And there is more chance of hair pulling and irritation to tissue by the multiple bands of mohair or other rope on web girths than by the smooth neoprene surface, so chances of irritation are minimized by use of the neoprene girth. I've used all types, and I would recommend the neoprene.
