home remides for rain rot and color (horses)?
I have a chesnut gleding and a paint(same pasture) has infected him with rain rot he is my show horse and i cant have him like this.the rot is on the back legs, but and starting on face i need some home remides.
2nd i need to darken him up a little i heard pepperika works but i was not sure he is a chesnut.
3rd flies!the prices are crazy i need to know what i can put in his food/or make fly spray.

It's Paprika and the amount it would take to "darken him up" would not be available from the grocery store. You'd have to buy it wholesale and it ain't cheap.
The only home made remedy you stand a chance with is the rain rot. You can make a solution of 1 part bleach to ten parts water and sponge the solution on the affected parts.(if it's too cold to bathe him and I'm betting it is too cold) No need to rinse. DO NOT get the solution in or near his eyes. Loosen up the purse strings and buy some fly spray.
EDIT The source of the bleach formula that all the higher qualified experts here don't recommend is an equine specialist veterinarian. 20 years in practice, professor at three universities (TX A&M, Auburn, Oregon State), One M.S. Degree from TX A&M, second M.S.Degree from Auburn (M.S. is Master of Science). I must report to him that he's apparently under-qualified to answer here...
