english pointer out doors?
i am moving out to rural MN and now that i will have room to have a hunting dog i am going to get one. i need a outside dog because my little sister is very allergic to dogs even the hypoallergetic ones. i need a uppland game dog. i am leaning twards the english pointer but i cant find any info about if they can be a outside dog. i am building a nice insulated dog house but i cant heat it so i dont know if they have a thick enuf coat for it.
thanks and any other suggestions for dogs would be appreciated.
Pointers are not a good dog to live outside in a climate where the winter days can average in the single digits and get much colder.
Do you know what a plant hardiness zone map is? It is something you use to see if a plant can survive in the climate and it is calculated based on the average minimum temperature range.

St Paul: -35 to -25 F---that is 25 to 35 below zero.
I cannot think of an upland game dog with the coat and physique appropriate for this climate.
