is there such a thing as natural ability with horses?
everytime i go out riding the guides comment and ask how long i've been riding and where i've trained and if i should want to do any lessons and i notice that with i'm with friends that they don't ask them that but only me. i know that i do have a gift with animals but is there such a thing as a natural ability in Horse Back Riding and equestrian skills?
Sure. Some people are naturally better riders just like some people are naturally good at chess, basketball, and about anything else. If you're a more natural rider, you probably have a calm disposition that allows you to listen to the horse and understand its body language. A horse will always tell you what is wrong, or why a ride does not go well, but he will do so with his body and facial expressions. Some people can pick up these signs better than others, and some people are simply more willing to blame themselves for problems than the horse and are thus able to fix the problem sooner.
You may also be built so that you naturally sit more correctly in the Saddle and are relaxed enough that it is easier for you to just let your body move with the horse rather than forcing a position. People with longer legs and a shorter torso and upper body tend to sit better in a saddle than someone top heavy. Also, individuals who tend to stress more or are control freaks tend to be tense in the saddle, and thus make the horse tense. A more carefree or relaxed individual may not encounter this problem.
