Have a horse that cribs on EVERYTHING! HELP!?

My friend has a big quarter horse that is pasture kept and has 2 buddies and LOTS of land to graze and run around in, yet he still finds stuff to crib on and we have used a cribbing strap (mirical collar)....but it rubs him raw around his neck. We have even tried the grazing/cribbing muzzle and that worked well but it didnt last very long, he seems to have a thing for distroying everything, and it still rubbed him raw around his muzzle. I have tried a shock collar that I had for my dogs and fitted it for him...the only problem is that I cant watch him 24/7 to make it work. the fence is covered by over growth but he has access to the cable that supports the telephone poll, and he uses that and makes the whole pole and lines above shake like mad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
