Can you help me remember this funny Irish (?) poem/blessing?
My grandmother used to have this hanging on the wall, does anyone know the rest of this? This is about all I can remember.
If all the seas were made of beer and all the earth were cheese
And crayfish grew already cooked like leaves upon the trees.
.........and all the grass were gold, and summer days not to hot nor winter days too cold.
If horses sprouted in the night and motor cars cost nil, and everyone were full of vim(?) and none were ever ill.
......some pessimistic bloody fool would find some cause to growl.
If all the seas were made of beer, and all the land were cheese,
And crayfish grew already cooked, like leaves upon the streets;
If banknotes fell instead of rain, and all the grass were gold,
And summer days were not too hot, nor winter ones too cold;
If houses sprouted in the night, and motor cars cost nil,
And everyone were full of vim, and no one ever ill;
If fowls laid 90 eggs a day, and work were just a crime,
And everybody lived three thousand years and nine;
If every man had 30 wives, and all of them were dumb,
And diamonds grew like hazel nuts, and cows provided rum;
If cigarettes were three feet long, and politics were barred,And loaves of bread were thick as logs, and measured by the yard,
Ah ! Well, 'twould be a merry world, but some perverted owl,
Some pessimistic bloody fool WOULD FIND SOME CAUSE TO GROWL....................
Such is life...................
