More Joint Supplement Price Info Below

Why is one more expensive than the other?
Ok so my dog is getting older and has sore hips so he gets two fish pills and two Chrondroitin, Glucosamine (repair and lubricate joints) and MSM (natural anti-inflammatory) pills. The fish pills were 13$ for a family size bottle that has 300 pills at CVS. The pills we were going to get had the same ingredients but said for dogs and cost about 45$ for 150 pills. The joint supplement he is on which has Chrondroitin, Glucosamine, and MSM people formulas is about 15$ with 200 pills at CVS the dog formula which has the same ingredients is 75$ and only has 100 pills.
Why do you think they jack up the price when it says it is specially formulated for dogs when you can get the human formula for way less?
Do you give your dog supplements? Do you buy human or dog kind?
Note: I have checked with my veterinarian and he has given both of the "human kind" supplements the OK. Please consult your vet before starting any supplements and do your research.
Basically they are trying to scam you out of your money. They know that people love their pets and not everyone is smart enough to figure out that there's no difference between most dog formulas and human formulas. But you're accurate, sometimes there IS a different so you should always consult a trusted person about which ones are different so you don't accidentally harm your dogs.
Anyways, this reminds me of a story. My uncle who's a doctor and has done some mighty large amount of research about dogs had to take his dog to a vet. I believe for some urinary problem, not sure. But the vet said that his dog needed a prescription that cost $80. My uncle says, "$80?! For what?" the vet told him what the medicine ways, said they fill it right in the office, and that it was worth it for his animal's health, all that junk. And my uncle just asks, "Wait, don't they have that in the human version for cheaper?" and the vet tells him that this is the dog formula. Simply my uncle scoffs and says, "There is no difference." The vet then admits that there isn't any to the two kinds of medication! So my uncle says, "No thanks, I'll get it myself. I can fill that prescription for only $4!" and left.
Just goes to show you that vets just try and weasel as much money as they can out of you. It's a sad fact. Just like food companies will pay vets to endorse their foods, even though it's a load of crap food that can actually harm your dogs and make them sick. That's why it's important to do your personal research and find a vet you trust.
I don't give my dog supplements. She's a healthy puppy right now (except for this stupid UTI she has which we're taking her to the vet for). In the future we'll be giving her joint supplements and what-not to help prevent hip dysplasia and joint damage. (She's a Great Dane.)
But basically that's the reason why the "dog formula" medications are higher; they are just trying to make an extra few bucks off of you!
Good luck!
