can i use these saddles in place of a barrel Saddle?
i have a leather trail saddle that has a deep saet and is very comfortible for me!:) and its pretty light weight and it fits my horse alot better then any other saddle since shes a narrow thing lol then i have a roper saddle and its pretty heavy and doe'nt fit her too good but these are the only things im working with but if she does good and i get real serious in it then i would upgrade to a nice barrel saddle but rite now it would just be around local shows andsuch but pleasr let me no wat u think anything can and would HELP!!:)
i barrel race and the only thing i have that fits my mustang mare properly and the only thing she will accept on her back without misbehaving it is an extremely ugly blue denim and tan saddle with man made holes in it flex tree saddle and i stand out in the crowd, i get comments on the ugly thing all the time and at first i was very embarrassed but we go in there and turn and burn and kick butt and the saddle is the most comfortable thing i have ever rode in so i don't care what my saddle looks like anymore it is your horse and yourself out there performing not your saddle though having the correct fit is important your horse cant perform well if it is being pinched or rubbed but i see nothing wrong with using your trail saddle to start out with as long as it fits your girl properly isn't too heavy and can stand up to the wear and tear of barrel racing i see people all the time using light weight trail saddles for barrel racing at the local shows around here
