My mare tore a tendon in her front left leg in july and was on stall rest/ separated paddock rest for her recovery months. She is now sound so during this winter I am going to slowly bring her back into exercise. (Just walking for a few months). My Coach has advised me to get some solid support (boots rather than a wrap) for when I ride her for support. I need a boot that goes all the way around her leg and preferably with the neoprene stuff inside. I was recommended the davis splint boots and I was wondering if anyone had any comments about these boots, suggestions for other boots or anything they would like to share. I know a lot of people who have the Sports Medicine Boots and i considered them but then i heard that they don't bend or something. not really sure.
i also am not looking for something to stop re injury but just some support for bringing her back into work
Rather than the splint boots I would go with Professionals Choice Sports Medicine boots. They offer better support than a splint boot. Keep in mind that there isn't a boot on the planet that can provide enough support to prevent re-injury.
