Starting Parelli's training method?

I am looking at Parelli's site and I am interested in starting his training system.nI know someone who has the success series and I can borrow those at anytime but what about the course-in-a-box and the Parelli patterns? Are they any good? What are they exactly? I would like to know if they would help me with any training before I go and blow thousands of $$$ on Parelli.

*Please no Parelli haters... I just want to know the truth about the products, not that they're horrible because you aren't a fan of Parelli:)*

I've seen horses and riders use Parelli and it is definately impressive. There are several good trainers out there such as John Lyon, Julie Goodnight, Clint Anderson that you could look into as well that are cheaper and known to be effective. Different people like different trainers so the best thing is to find a program that works for you and your horse. There maybe a trainer in your area that can assist you. These programs are designed to open the communication between you and your horse. I mixed Anderson and Parelli and it worked well for us. The biggest problem I would hit is every so often my horse wouldn't do what their demo horses did or follow any of the contingencies they provided. We worked through it and now I feel like we make a great team. Some of these trainers have shows on cable that you can check out for free if you get the channels so you could get an idea of what they are about. Hope this helps. Good luck!
