getting a tan for summer [easy 10 points!]?

i want to get a tan for summer. an extremely dark tan. i am irish and have fair skin..

does tanning oil work?
what is a good brand of tanning oil?
what are the pros/cons of using it?

please dont lecture me about skin cancer.. i know all about it and the ricks im taking for it.

I use banana boat tanning oil<3
im fair skinned too, and I suggest after tanning with that in the fun for about a week using a self tanner, like loreals sublime bronze. Its not orange AT ALL and deepens the tan you've been building up. If you don't want to use that, theres tanning lotion with bronzer (tons of brands at walmart) that are good too. i just got the intensified brand. i like it alot

i try to lay out in the sun 2-3 times a week && use the self tanning 2 times a week.
