is there any way to cover up scratches on a saddle?
i have a brown saddle that has these litle scratches in it. they don't go through the leather, they just go partally into it. any tips on how to cover them up or get rid of them? thanks. : )
Clean it really well with glycerine soap or Leather Thearpy wash spray or something like that to get all the surface dust and dirt off. After that, I use Horseman's One-Step to precondition the leather and finish off the cleaning. Then, apply a few coats of Neatsfoot Oil with a cloth, letting it dry between. When you are done with the oil, rub of the excess with a dry cloth and put on a waxy leather conditioner (I use Oakwood). It works really well. Make sure to buff the leather where is is scratched really well and put on more oil and conditioner over them. This should at least blend the color, but it usually gets rid of them to a point where you have to know exactly where they are and look really close to see them. Also, I know this is a really long process, but you can just do it on the area with the scratches. It is totally worth it if you do the whole saddle because it makes your leather super soft and grippy.--Hope this helps!
P.S. make sure to buff the whole saddle with a cloth after using the Oakwood to get off all the residue to keep dust from sticking.
