They come a few different colours and these can be black, roan, chestnut, gray and bay. Although they come in all these colours their skin is black underneath to help protect it from being damaged due to the suns rays.
Even though they are a hardy animal, they have been known to sometimes develop genetic diseases that can be passed on to foal. These diseases can cause death, either by natural cause, or by the owner having to euthanize the horse. One or two of these diseases can be treated but most cause fatalities.
