Showing a coloured cob, can I use a lead rein with a hunter bridle and snaffle or double reins with a pelham?
I'm wanting to start showing my 17.1hh piebald cob in-hand after having 5 yrs off and have a gorgeous hunter bridle that I love that has a 2 inch wide nose band that really flatters his face.
I'm only doing local shows, however wanted to know people's thoughts on if I could use a brass show lead with newmarket couplings and a snaffle or if i'd have to stick to the standard hunter turnout with a pelham and double reins?
Thanks
Well if showing him in hand, a snaffle is preferred. Especially if you are doing it the proper way with couplings and a lead. Even if doing local shows its far more clean and professional looking than a handful of reins.
There is nothing wrong with looking just as good in a high rated class as a local show. Plus gets you in better rhythm, the more practice the better.
