Western Showing-Halter Jacket/Alternative?
Do you have to wear a jacket to show your horse in halter classes or can you wear a tunic like in showmanship classes?
You don't have to wear a jacket when showing in halter, the bigger shows that you show in then you'll need to. You don't want anything wild looking, you just want a basic color, with minimal design. Hobbyhorse, has good deals.
In showmanship, you don't want to show a lot of skin. This is for higher level showing. The only skin that the judge should see if is your face. If you google showmanship outfits a lot of people make their own tops and sell them, sometimes you can get a good deal. You want a top that'll make you and your horse stand out but not in a nasty way. For example, my local/ 4H regional showmanship outfit is black boots and pants. then I have a baby pink top, and pink gloves and a black hat. My hair is neatly in a bun that has glitter on it. I show a bay with a white blaze. This outfit makes us stand out/but its a suttle look.
Usually you can wear a simple "rail shirt" or a long sleve western shirt. Like I said eariler Hobby Horse is very cheap but their stuff is good
