How to attach reins to slobber straps?
Hi, I'm trying to find out more about using mecate reins. I found a pair I like but they only come with dark oil slobber straps and all my tack is very light leather so i was wondering if it's possible to change slobber straps once they're attached and also how they are attached in the first place? Can someone buy rope reins and put slobber straps on them? How is this done?
Some reins come with a wooden or rawhide ball and tassel that are fed through the slot in the slobber straps and looped. Some you just feed through and knot, and there is no ball. You should be able to find slobber straps and mecate reins offered together online. I'll check and if I find some, I'll post the link.
