Surcingle Train That
Hypothetical training question?

If I were to buy one of those lungeing systems with the surcingles etc. that have the head pieces (can't remember what their called but they make the horse go into a frame), would that teach the horse (eventually) to go into a frame at the canter (or at least be able to if they already know the signals)?

this is sort of what Im talking about: http://www.doversaddlery.com/pessoa-training-system/p/X1-3026/cn/109/
Thanks for the answer so far- really helpful=] Yeah I had a feeling thats what it would be for- I was more just curious if it would work to do just that- get them used to being in a frame so when you ask them and work on it, they have the idea of what they must do so they can build up the muscle for that.

Getting into a frame is one of the main purposes of using a pesoa rig. Getting into a frame at a canter - that usually requires practice in the Saddle because the rein pressure changes a little do to the horses stride. - not that it can't be done in a pesoa, just not as well.

A pesoa helps get the horse used to being in frame, helps them build the appropriate muscles, and can be good for certain types of therapy. But actual refining of movements requires you to be in the saddle.
