More Trail Kid Pony Info Below

Do you think I'm ready to buy a horse?
I rode for about eight years then decided to quit and then I got back into it again five years later. I owned two horses in the past, my first horse was a sweet bombproof quarter horse who I used for trail riding and walk, trot, canter and flat work. My second horse was a flashy welsh pony who I used for hunter. Those horses I owned when I was a kid, I'm now seventeen. Now that I'm getting back into it I found some stables I'm interested in doing rough board at, but I'm still in the process of finding a good fit for a trainer. I'm a very responsible owner I vet, shoe, muck stalls, and have a chiropractor for my horses. I feel like its a good time to buy a horse because the economy, but should I wait.
As long as you can *comfortably* support the horse financially then I say give it a go.
Though you might want to consider leasing before purchasing, this would at least give you a definitive answer as to whether or not you are or are not ready to own a horse of your own. There are plenty of wonderful horses available for long term leases, many with the option to purchase later on. And there are also lots of free leases available, you just pay for the horse's everyday costs/upkeep. And if you do discover that you aren't quite ready to make the commitment, then the horse is able to be given back to his/her owner, no strings attached.
Good luck!
